A Tree that can Save the World (Kiri)
The name Kiri comes from the Japanese and it means cut .They believed that it grow better and faster when they were pruned,so that’s why they gave this name.The original name is ”paulownia tomentosa”.
Well,Let’s go to the excellent properties of this tree;
- Vertical roots in the form of pile can go down to a depth of 9 meters and in this way,prevents erosion.Also thanks to the roots, it takes its food from the depths of the soil and thus allows other plants to live nearby.
- The fastest growing trees in the world.
- Very resistant to harsh weather conditions.(-13 °F– +113 °F)
- The leaves falling in winter are rich in protein and nitrogen.The nutritive value of leaves is equivalent to barley.
And the most important feature is : Paulownia’s a real air pollution fighter.Tree leaves absorbing dust and smoke in the air and cleans.One hectare planted Paulownia is known to absorb 6 kilograms of sulfur per year.It use 10 times more carbon dioxide than trees around the world and and produces oxygen at high ratio.
US state of Texas,started a kiri revolution and planted a million paulownia trees.
So,can be a great solution for over-contaminated soil and air.The Kiri Tree is the tree of the future.
